America’s pastime, baseball is my favorite spring sport to watch. The Atlanta Bravesare my team. Living in Iowa, the only way I get to watch them is on directtvsatellite television. I never miss a game. Win or lose, I love watching the Braves.
My favorite player for many years now has been Chipper Jones. He plays third base for the Braves. He is considered by many as the best switch hitter of all time. I liked the kid since the day the Braves drafted him. It nearly broke my heart when he got called up from the minor leagues and then injured his knee. He didn’t play for a long time.
Braves fans were spoiled for many years, winning the division title 14 straight times. We were used to being in the playoffs. It’s been a while now since we’ve made the post season. I believe the last time was in 2005. I believe this season we could be back in the post season, but we’re going to have to play really good baseball.
Rookie Jason Heyward has caused quite a stir for the Braves, homering in his first at bat in the Major Leagues. Hopefully he can spark the Braves enough to send Bobby Cox out with a bang. Bobby has decided to retire at the end of this season.
