Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games also known as MMORPGs are extremely popular with millions of players across quite a few different games. These games allow you to play with thousands of players on the same server. You can team up with other players to accomplish various quests and be rewarded for successful runs. They are fun and designed to consistently reward players while playing the game which can make them addictive at times.
There is a problem for some people when the game starts taking over real life. There have been some people who have become so addicted that they can't function without having hours of the game at a time during their day. There are a few steps that you can take to prevent this from happening to you.
Many online games offer a service where you can use parental controls to block out the game for certain periods during the day or week. If you want to be doing something else between 3 and 6 in the evening, you can lock those gaming hours so that you can't log in. This will help you do something else for those hours during the day.
Realize that you do not have to do everything in the game. Pick some goals and focus on those while playing the game and cut back on idle time spent during the day. There are many quest lines and things to do that are nothing more than to just keep you playing. Do the things in the game that you find fun and avoid those that do not really have much in game reward.
Step back from the game for a few days and think about what it is that you are doing. Many times the virtual rewards seem less meaningful after separating yourself from it.
If you can't control yourself, you may have to completely delete the game and do your best to not install it again.
