Rerecorded versions of 11 songs from This Is Spinal Tap arrive next week for Wii, PS3, 360; new Black Sabbath and Foo Fighters DLC also available.
Last month, faux metal pioneers Spinal Tap released three new songs from their latest album, Back From the Dead, onto Rock Band for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii. But just like the bands they parody, most fans would rather hear the old stuff.
Not exactly the Jonas Brothers.
To that end, the band is offering a compromise. Next week's Rock Band downloadable content releases will include 11 songs from the original soundtrack to Rob Reiner's original mockumentary, This Is Spinal Tap. However, the Rock Band tracks will be the rerecorded and reimagined versions of the songs included on Back From the Dead.
Next week will also see the Wii version of Rock Band continue playing catch-up, as two more track packs already available on the other editions of the game make their Nintendo downloadable debut. The original Black Sabbath three pack of covers will add sound-alikes of "N.I.B.," "Sweet Leaf," and "War Pigs" to the store, as will the entire Foo Fighters album The Colour and the Shape.
All songs will be available separately for $1.99 (160 Microsoft points, 200 Wii points), and the 11 Spinal Tap tracks will be bundled together on the Xbox 360 and PS3 as part of the "Tap Ten Pack" for $17.99 (1,440 Microsoft points). The full list of tracks follows below. Brendan Sinclair
